Ninnes Signature

About the Artist

Craig Ninnes began painting at an early age, learning many tricks of the trade from local artists in Hervey Bay. Exhibiting in the Harbour Gallery, his Maheno shipwreck paintings proved quite popular with the tourist trade during his high school years.

Wanting to take his passion further, Craig earned a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Art) and Education at QUT. Teaching and motivating Visual Art students has become a rewarding career for Craig, which also allows time for him to pursue his own painting endeavours. Having taught and lived in the seaside community of Hervey Bay and the remote mining town of Collinsville, Craig has never been short of inspiration and subject matter, with many picturesque locations just a stone’s throw away. Craig now resides in Brisbane and teaches at one of the local high schools.

Although better known for his photo-realism, Craig now paints using fragmentation. This fragmented style breaks the image down into sections without rearranging it. Ultimately, Craig is able to create more vibrant and expressionistic works that focus on light and shade. This fresh, new look is now increasingly sought after.
